At JEDA Surfboards, every board is built with careful attention to design, construction and finishing. We want our customers to receive a surfboard that meets the specifications agreed upon and performs as intended.

This Returns & Warranty Policy explains how we handle manufacturing defects, damaged or incorrect products, cancellations, returns, warranty requests and other issues related to your purchase.

Nothing in this policy is intended to limit any mandatory consumer right provided by applicable law.

1. Inspecting Your Surfboard

We recommend inspecting your surfboard carefully when you receive or pick it up.

Please check:

  • Overall condition of the board
  • Dimensions and model
  • Fin system and configuration
  • Tail shape
  • Artwork and color
  • Glassing and finish
  • Any visible shipping or handling damage

If you notice an obvious problem at pickup or delivery, please notify us as soon as possible and provide photographs when appropriate.

2. Manufacturing Warranty

JEDA Surfboards warrants its products against manufacturing defects in accordance with applicable consumer protection laws.

A manufacturing defect is generally a problem caused by the materials or manufacturing process that prevents the board from meeting the quality, function or specifications reasonably expected from the product.

Possible manufacturing defects may include, depending on the circumstances:

  • Structural manufacturing failures not caused by impact or misuse
  • Improper installation of components
  • Manufacturing defects in lamination or assembly
  • A board materially different from the specifications agreed upon in the order
  • Other defects attributable to the manufacturing process

Every warranty claim is evaluated individually to determine the nature and cause of the issue.

3. Reporting a Warranty Issue

If you believe your board has a manufacturing defect, please contact us promptly after discovering the issue.

Your warranty request should include, whenever possible:

  • Your full name
  • Order or purchase information
  • Date of purchase or pickup
  • Surfboard model and dimensions
  • A description of the problem
  • Clear photographs of the affected area
  • Photographs showing the overall condition of the board

Under applicable Salvadoran consumer protection law, a consumer should communicate a defect or deficiency through a method that provides evidence of receipt within the legally applicable period following discovery of the issue.

4. Warranty Evaluation

We may ask to inspect the surfboard before determining whether an issue is covered by warranty.

Photographs may be sufficient for an initial evaluation, but in some cases the physical board may need to be inspected at JEDA Surfboards or another location agreed upon with the customer.

The condition of the board, type of damage, location of the issue, signs of impact, previous repairs and general use may all be considered when determining the cause of the problem.

5. Warranty Remedies

When an issue is confirmed to be a manufacturing defect, JEDA Surfboards will provide the remedy required under applicable law and appropriate to the circumstances.

Depending on the issue, this may include:

  • Repair of the defective area
  • Correction of the manufacturing issue
  • Replacement where appropriate
  • A price adjustment
  • A refund where required or otherwise agreed
  • Another remedy permitted by applicable law

Applicable consumer protection law may provide additional remedies when a defect substantially affects the use, value or safety of the product and cannot be corrected through the legally applicable repair process.

6. What Is Not Normally a Manufacturing Defect

Surfboards are lightweight performance products designed to be surfed in a demanding environment. Normal use can produce wear, pressure marks and accidental damage that are not caused by manufacturing defects.

Subject to applicable consumer law, warranty coverage does not normally apply to damage caused by:

  • Impact with the ocean floor, reef, rocks or other objects
  • Impact with another surfboard, surfer or equipment
  • Airline or baggage handling
  • Vehicle or transportation damage
  • Dropping or striking the board
  • Improper storage
  • Excessive heat or prolonged exposure inside a hot vehicle
  • Water entering through unrepaired cracks or damage
  • Unauthorized repairs or modifications
  • Improper installation or use of accessories
  • Accidents, misuse or neglect

7. Pressure Dents and Normal Wear

Pressure dents, foot wells, deck compression, cosmetic scratches and similar signs of use can occur naturally during surfing, particularly with lightweight performance constructions.

The amount of pressure denting can vary depending on the surfer’s weight, surfing style, board construction, fiberglass schedule and intensity of use.

Normal pressure dents and ordinary cosmetic wear are not generally considered manufacturing defects by themselves.

8. Fresh Boards and Resin Curing

Surfboard resin systems continue curing after manufacturing is completed.

Although a board may be ready for pickup and surfing, allowing additional curing time when possible may improve final hardness and resistance to pressure marks.

Surfing a very fresh board does not automatically eliminate applicable warranty rights. However, pressure marks or damage caused by use must be distinguished from an actual manufacturing defect.

9. Shipping and Transportation Damage

If a surfboard arrives damaged after shipment, photograph the packaging and board before removing or discarding any packaging materials.

Please contact us promptly so that we can determine whether the issue relates to manufacturing, packaging, shipping or carrier handling and assist with the appropriate next steps.

Airline baggage damage should normally be reported directly to the airline according to its baggage claim procedures.

10. Incorrect Products or Specifications

If you receive a product that materially differs from what was agreed upon, please contact us promptly.

For custom surfboards, we will compare the completed board with the specifications approved for the order, taking into account the reasonable tolerances inherent in surfboard manufacturing and hand finishing.

If the product does not correspond to the agreed order, the matter will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer protection law and the circumstances of the transaction.

11. Custom Surfboards

Custom surfboards are manufactured according to specifications approved by the customer and may include personalized dimensions, volume, construction, fin setup, colors, artwork or other features.

Because production may begin specifically for an individual customer, cancellation or modification of a custom order can become more complicated after materials have been allocated or manufacturing has begun.

However, nothing in this policy removes or limits a consumer’s mandatory rights of withdrawal, refund, payment reversal, warranty or other remedies when those rights apply under law.

12. Changes Before Production

If you need to change the specifications of a custom board, please contact us before production begins.

Once shaping, artwork, glassing or another stage of manufacturing has begun, requested changes may result in additional costs or may no longer be technically possible.

We will communicate any additional charge or production impact before proceeding with a customer-requested change.

13. Cancellations and Right of Withdrawal

Where the legal right of withdrawal applies to a transaction, customers may exercise that right in accordance with applicable Salvadoran consumer protection law.

For qualifying distance contracts, applicable law may provide a period during which the consumer may withdraw from the transaction, subject to the legal requirements and conditions governing that right.

To request cancellation or exercise an applicable right of withdrawal, contact us in writing at: jedasurf@gmail.com.

14. Returns

Before returning a surfboard or other product, please contact JEDA Surfboards so that we can review the reason for the return and provide appropriate instructions.

Do not ship a surfboard back without first contacting us, as surfboards require specialized packaging and transportation.

Return eligibility and responsibility for transportation costs will depend on the reason for the return and applicable consumer protection requirements.

15. Reversal of Payments

Where applicable under Salvadoran consumer protection law, customers may have the right to request reversal of a payment in circumstances including:

  • The purchased product was not delivered
  • The product does not correspond to what was ordered
  • The product is defective
  • There was an incorrect charge resulting from a third-party payment system
  • Another circumstance in which reversal is required by applicable law

Requests will be handled according to the payment method used and the procedures required by applicable law and payment providers.

16. Repairs Outside Warranty

Damage that is not covered by warranty may still be repairable.

JEDA Surfboards may offer paid repair services depending on the type and extent of damage.

A repair estimate can be provided after inspecting the board or reviewing sufficient photographs of the damaged area.

17. Used Boards and Resale

Surfboards that have already been surfed, damaged or otherwise used are evaluated according to their individual condition.

For traveling surfers, JEDA Surfboards or Papaya Surf Shop may occasionally discuss resale assistance or a possible buyback after a trip.

Any such arrangement is optional and is not guaranteed. Availability and value will depend on the board’s condition, age, model and market demand at the time.

18. Consumer Rights

This policy is intended to operate consistently with applicable consumer protection law in El Salvador.

Nothing in this Returns & Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, waive or restrict any consumer warranty, refund, withdrawal, payment reversal or other right that cannot legally be waived.
